20th annual Freddy Adams Tournament

After a great showing last year and riding into the semi-finals, my friends Mike Herzenberg and Scott Hoffman joined me in a disappointing first round exist in the 20th annual Freddy Adams 3-on-3 basketball tournament.

Eh, it was still a fun weekend, as we played the guitar, toured Philadelphia and more.

Temple basketball upsets Georgetown

It was the second time I attended a Temple University men’s basketball since I graduated, and the result was much of the same: an upset win of a Top Ten ranked national powerhouse.

In December 2008, I saw Temple beat up on Tennessee, and tonight, with a couple friends, I had great, $35 near-floor seats to an exciting escape win over a tough Georgetown program.

Televised on ESPN2 and featuring Jay Bilas offering commentary, the game turned out to be beloved Coach Fran Dunphy’s 400th win. Afterward, the student section rushed the floor, as you can see in the video below, including friend Sean Blanda. Photo of Dunph’s 400th career win ball.

College basketball is easily my favorite live event.

Temple men’s basketball over Tennessee

I had great center-court, second level seats to watch guard Dionte Christmas light up No. 8 Tennessee Volunteers in exciting men’s college basketball.

Here’s to a great year — my first game since graduating, sitting far from the student section I once reveled in.

Rucker Park

Jamie and went up to Harlem to catch a summer league Rucker game.

In the second half, the drizzle turned to an outright pour and everyone bailed. We took to the train. ..I think this counts.
